| A Brilliant Life has been a long time in the making. Although most of the photographs were taken in the early 1990’s A Brilliant Life was not created until 2008. The motivation to make this video came from Mike my father, as it was knowledge that the permission to photograph him was given on the condition something useful would come from the photographs. | |
| Motivation to make A Brilliant Life also came from research showing the exposure to death and dying in western society seldom comes other than via the spectacle of deathly action seen via news, television and film. | |
| A Brilliant Life would not have been possible without immeasurable help from some key people. I would like to thank Sue my mother who patiently allowed me to record various interviews and expressed real interest in the project; my brothers and sister who have supported this project with their consent; Jeff Simmonds, friend and technical guru, who helped record audio, guide me through the Adobe Flash platform and performed miracles putting A Brilliant Life on the web; Fiona my wife who has been great support and an invaluable bounce board for any idea going and John Distefano of Massey University for providing intellectual rigor exactly when needed.
